OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, is actively seeking to raise billions of dollars to create a global network of factories dedicated to the production of AI chips. This initiative is driven by the growing demand for powerful chips necessary to run advanced AI models like ChatGPT and DALL-E, which currently rely on Nvidia's H100 GPUs. The scarcity of fabrication plants capable of producing such high-end chips has led Altman to secure manufacturing capacity years in advance. Potential investors include SoftBank Group and the Abu Dhabi-based AI company G42. Other tech giants, such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, have also started developing their own chips to meet similar demands.

Google is ushering in a new era of AI-powered advertising. Google's AI has been a foundational element in Google Ads, helping advertisers maximize their time and ROI. The new Search Generative Experience (SGE) simplifies the creation of Search ads by using AI to generate relevant keywords, headlines, descriptions, and other campaign assets from a provided landing page. This is part of Google's broader efforts to integrate AI into their advertising services, aiming to improve campaign performance and simplify the advertising process for users.

Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and board chairman of Twitter, is launching a startup in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Taylor, who also co-created Google Maps and served as the chief technology officer at Facebook, recently announced his new venture. This move comes after his successful negotiation of Twitter's sale to Elon Musk for $44 billion, and subsequent enforcement of the contract terms when Musk attempted to back out. After the deal closed in late October, Twitter dissolved its board and Taylor left the company, followed by his departure from Salesforce. Taylor stated that he planned to return to his "entrepreneurial roots," and his new AI startup aligns with this intention.

TikTok is testing a new feature that uses artificial intelligence to create songs based on user prompts. This development comes as TikTok continues to expand its presence in the music industry. Last year, the company launched "TikTok Music," a subscription-only music streaming service, in select countries to compete with platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

Anthropic, an AI company, has confirmed a data leak. The incident comes after Google expanded its AI partnership with Anthropic in November 2023. The companies are now being asked to provide details about their agreements, the rationale for their collaborations, the competitive impact of their partnerships, and information about any other government entities requesting information or conducting investigations.

ElevenLabs, an AI company, has raised $80 million in Series B funding, bringing its valuation to over $1 billion.

Brave has announced a significant update to the desktop version of Brave News, its in-browser news feed that prioritizes privacy. The update introduces a feature called Mixtral, which enhances the performance of Brave Leo, the AI browser assistant. This revamp aims to provide users with a more personalized and customizable news experience.

Google, in collaboration with researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science and Tel Aviv University, has developed a space-time diffusion model called Lumiere. This model is designed to generate realistic and coherent motion in videos, which is a notable challenge in the field of video synthesis. Although Lumiere has been detailed in a recently published paper, the model is not yet available for public testing. It also has limitations, such as the inability to generate videos with multiple shots or scene transitions, which are areas for future research.
